As an administrator, making difficult decision is not always easy. Often, the budgets of library and learning commons are drastically reduced or outright eliminated. This session speaks to administrators and school leaders about how rejuvenating or taking your conceptual and physical library / learning commons to the next level is actually a massive strategic advantage that will serve their entire school community comprehensively, for a wiser and more adaptive hub for school safety, community programming, competency building, equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and idea brokerages - and then, of course, the endless applications for literacy and numeracy. This session will include action that can be taken immediately, as well as longer term strategic advice. Teacher-librarians from the Alberta School Learning Commons Council will draw on personal, Canadian, and worldwide experiences and expertise to leave you unsettled, inspired, and with endless bookmarks, dog-ears, and questions to consider…because that’s what teacher-librarians do!
