Too often we study History and Drama through distant people's lives and lenses and ignore the incredible stories within our community. The participants in this project learned to research, write and develop characters and situations based on the first person in their family to come to Canada. This involved all of the arts as well as history, writer’s craft, problem solving, teamwork and brought out the creativity and research skills rarely combined in a classroom. This workshop will provide a flexible framework for an incredibly rewarding project.
